In 2007, I hit a wall. My credit was in the low 500s, weighed down by short sales, collections, and late payments. Every time I applied for credit, I was denied. Not only was it frustrating, but my career required a strong financial profile — and I knew I had to learn how to raise my credit score to 800. I had to make a change.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! That was the start of my journey from bad credit to an 800 FICO score. Today, I want to share that journey with you, because if I could do it, so can you.
The Wake-Up Call
Back then, I wasn’t getting approved anywhere. I realized credit wasn’t just about numbers — it was about opportunity. I started investing in myself by buying books, watching videos, and learning how credit really works.
One of the first lessons I learned was this: collections, late payments, and short sales don’t define you — but how you respond to them does.
Rebuilding Step by Step
In 2007, secured credit cards weren’t as common as they are today. Instead, I leveraged my family’s credit cards by becoming an authorized user. That gave me a foundation to start rebuilding.
At the same time, I studied consumer laws like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). I used these laws to challenge inaccurate information on my reports. For example, I’ll never forget the struggle with my old Premier Credit Card. They had marked me with multiple late payments that felt impossible to remove — until I learned how to use consumer protection laws like 15 U.S.C. §1666b to correct my reports.
Every inaccurate account I removed, every balance I paid down, and every on-time payment was a step closer to rebuilding my financial reputation.
The Power of Payment History
Payment history is the single biggest factor in your credit score. Once I committed to never missing another payment, my score started to climb steadily. Within 3–5 years, I had gone from the low 500s to an 800+ credit score.
Life With an 800 FICO Score
The difference was night and day. With an 800 score, I was finally:
- Approved for new accounts with ease.
- Receiving better interest rates and exclusive rewards.
- Enjoying discounts and financial perks everywhere I went.
Credit stopped being a burden — it became a tool for freedom.
Why I Founded Maximum Fico Score in 2016
After fixing my own credit, I couldn’t ignore what I was seeing around me: good people being denied for loans, families paying thousands more in interest, and credit repair companies charging high fees while offering little real help.
That’s why I founded Maximum Fico Score. My mission is simple:
- Educate clients about their credit.
- Use proven laws and strategies to help them rebuild.
- Guide families toward financial freedom, step by step.
My Advice If You Feel Hopeless About Credit
I know how it feels to be stuck. But here’s the truth: you are not your credit score.
If you feel hopeless, start here:
- Make a list of your dreams and desires.
- Break those into 12-month goals.
- Break those months into 30-day steps.
- Take it day by day.
And remember — help is always available.
