Publishing Principles

Last updated: May 11, 2026

At Maximum Fico Score, the trust our readers place in us is the foundation of everything we do. Credit and finance content has real consequences in real lives, which is why we hold our editorial work to standards that go beyond what most credit repair companies publish. This page explains how we research, write, fact-check, and update every piece of content on our site — and the principles we will not compromise on, regardless of business pressure.

FCRA · FDCPA · CROA Compliant · BBB A+ Rated · Serving All 50 States Since 2016

Our Editorial Mission

We publish credit education content for one purpose: to help consumers understand their rights under federal law and use those rights to improve their financial lives. We are not a news outlet, and we do not chase trending topics. Every article, guide, and resource on this site is written to answer a specific question a real client has asked us, drawn from more than nine years of one-on-one credit consultations in Bakersfield, California, and across all 50 states.

We will never publish content designed to scare consumers, exploit financial anxiety, or push readers toward unnecessary paid services. If a topic can be honestly addressed by linking to a free government resource, that is what we do.

Who Writes Our Content

All editorial content on this site is written or directly supervised by Isaac Palacios, founder of Maximum Fico Score. Isaac has been working professionally in credit education and credit repair since 2016 and has personally reviewed more than 5,000 consumer credit files. Where outside contributors are used, they are subject-matter experts (licensed mortgage professionals, consumer finance attorneys, or certified credit counselors) and their credentials are disclosed in the article byline.

We do not publish AI-generated content as standalone articles. AI tools may be used internally for research, outlining, or grammar review, but every published article is written, edited, and signed off on by a human with direct expertise in the subject matter.

Sources We Rely On

Credit and consumer finance is a regulated field. We cite primary sources whenever possible. Our standard sources include:

  • Federal statutes — The Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (15 U.S.C. § 1692), and the Credit Repair Organizations Act (15 U.S.C. § 1679)
  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) — Official guidance, enforcement actions, and consumer advisories
  • Federal Trade Commission (FTC) — Consumer education materials and enforcement actions against credit repair organizations
  • The three major credit bureaus — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion published guidance and dispute procedures
  • FICO and VantageScore — Official documentation on scoring model factors and weightings
  • Courts of record — Published case law interpreting the FCRA, FDCPA, and CROA

We do not cite competitor blog posts, anonymous forum threads, or unverified social media content as authoritative sources. When we reference a statistic or claim, we link directly to the primary source so readers can verify it themselves.

Our Fact-Checking Process

Every article goes through a three-step review before publication:

  1. Research review — All factual claims, dollar amounts, statutory citations, dates, and timelines are checked against primary sources.
  2. Compliance review — The content is reviewed for CROA compliance. We do not publish guarantees, score-increase promises, or any language that could mislead a consumer about what credit repair can or cannot do under federal law.
  3. Final editorial review — Isaac Palacios or a designated senior team member reviews the final draft before it is published.

Content Updates and Currency

Credit regulations and bureau procedures change. We review every article on this site at least once per year and update any content that has become inaccurate or outdated. Articles that touch on rapidly changing topics (such as CFPB enforcement priorities or specific bureau policies) are reviewed more frequently. The “Last updated” date at the top of each article reflects the most recent substantive review.

We do not silently change content to manipulate search rankings. When we make a substantive change — correcting an error, updating a statute citation, or revising a recommendation — we note the change in our internal change log and, where the change affects reader understanding, we add a brief note to the article.

CROA Compliance Commitments

The Credit Repair Organizations Act (15 U.S.C. § 1679) prohibits credit repair organizations from making false or misleading statements about their services. We take this obligation seriously.

In our content you will NEVER see:

  • Guaranteed credit score increases of any specific amount
  • Promises that any specific item can be removed from a credit report
  • Claims that credit repair is faster, easier, or more effective than what consumers can do themselves under the FCRA
  • Pressure tactics, false urgency, or fear-based marketing

What you will see: honest, statute-based education about your rights, realistic descriptions of what the dispute process can and cannot do, and clear disclosure that individual results vary based on the accuracy of items reported and other factors specific to each credit file.

Affiliate Relationships and Sponsored Content

When we recommend a third-party product or service — such as a secured credit card, a credit-builder loan, or a rent-reporting platform — we disclose any affiliate relationship clearly within the article. Affiliate links are tagged with rel="sponsored nofollow" in our HTML and labeled in the visible text. We only recommend services we would use ourselves or have used with clients, and the existence of an affiliate relationship never influences whether or how we cover a topic.

We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage, positive reviews, or placement in any of our content. Sponsored content, if any is ever published, will be clearly labeled as such at the top of the article.

Corrections and Reader Feedback

If you find an error in our content — a wrong statute citation, an outdated procedure, a factual mistake, anything — please email us at support@maximumficoscore.com with the URL of the article and a brief description of what needs correcting. We commit to reviewing every correction request within five business days and publishing a correction within ten business days where the issue is verified.

Our full Corrections Policy outlines how we handle, document, and disclose corrections.

Editorial Independence

Maximum Fico Score is a privately held credit repair and credit education company. Our editorial content is produced independently of our paid services. The fact that we sell credit repair services does not influence what we publish about consumer rights, free dispute options, or any topic on this site. Our position has always been that informed consumers are better clients, and helping consumers understand what they can do for free under the FCRA is part of how we earn the trust of the clients who do hire us.
